Open framework for maritime digital twins — co-simulation, data infrastructure, sub-domain models, and benchmarking (SINTEF lead, with NTNU)
Develop an open framework of digital twins that enables users to easily develop components or subsystem models, and combine them in a full-system for maritime industry design, operation, service, and maintenance. Led by SINTEF in cooperation with NTNU. Includes co-simulation mechanism, data infrastructure, sub-domain models, and benchmarking.
Task 4.1.1 — Co-simulation mechanism for maritime digital twins platform: Investigate open source standards, FMI/FMU, HLA; data interfaces; analysis tool attachment.
Task 4.1.2 — Data infrastructure and analytics: IIoT capability, data distribution frameworks (CSI, DDS), real-time sensor data collection, HIL function.
Task 4.1.3 — Define and develop sub-domain models for co-simulation: Physical models for components, sub-systems and operations; standard interfaces for hull, engines, propellers, thrusters, rudders, control systems.
Task 4.1.4 — Benchmarking and analysis: Standard performance measures, operational profiles, assessment methods.
PhD Topic 1: Protocols and standard for integration of maritime simulation models and co-simulation.
PhD Topic 2: Intelligent and flexible domain models for digital twins of maritime design and operation.
Postdoc Topic 1: Open digital twins structure software integration.
Reports, papers, open digital twins architecture documentation.
